Who reads this
5,200 paying members and 31,000 on the free list. The median reader opens New Rotation forty-one weeks out of fifty-two. Most of them buy records rather than only streaming them, which is the fact that actually matters to you and the only one we can substantiate — we ask about it once a year and the answer has not moved.
| Placement | Where | Format | Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Newsletter slot | New Rotation, Fridays | One image, forty words, one link | $400 / month |
| Site banner | Every page, below the header | One image, one line, one link | $650 / month |
| — | Booked by the calendar month. One advertiser per placement at a time, so nothing rotates and nothing is auctioned. |
The questions we get
Do you do sponsored posts?
No. Not labelled, not unlabelled, not "in partnership with". The two placements above are the whole inventory. This is not a moral position so much as a practical one — the moment a reader has to work out whether a piece was paid for, every other piece becomes worse.
Can we see the numbers?
Yes, and you do not have to ask twice. Opens, clicks, and the same figures we look at ourselves. We do not have a media kit because a media kit is a document designed to make numbers look larger than they are.
Do you take label advertising for records you review?
Yes, and here is the policy rather than a denial. Advertising is sold by Ollie, who commissions nothing. Reviewers are not told who is advertising. A label advertising in a given month gets no say in whether, when or how its records are covered, and we have run a bad review of a record from a label that was advertising at the time. If that arrangement is not enough for you, it should not be enough for you, and you should not buy the placement.
What we will not run
Gambling. Crypto of any kind. Anything using a stock photograph of a crowd. Any campaign requiring us to say in advance when a review is coming. Any creative that has been designed to look like one of our own pieces. And ticketing resale, which we would take on price and will not take on principle, and we are aware those two sentences sit awkwardly together.
