The band that only plays basements
The Long Wednesdays have turned down every room above ground for three years. It reads as a stunt until you look at what the rooms above ground were offering them.
They kept the offers, and let us read them on the condition we did not name the promoters.
Two are genuinely generous. One is a room this magazine has praised in print and should probably stop praising.
What they have turned down, specifically: two support slots at the Brayfield, one of them on a bill that sold out; a festival slot in 2025 that came with a fee we have seen and can confirm was the largest single sum anyone has ever offered them; and a residency at the Aviary that would have run four Thursdays.
They played a cellar under a hairdresser's instead. Twice.
