We are hiring a live writer
One role, three nights a month, and a seventh share in the magazine after a year. The terms are below in full because we would rather you self-select.
We have written this advert twice before, and both times we described the work rather than the nights.
So the nights first: three a month, in rooms where the load-in is the interview, and the piece files before you sleep.
Ines writes all of Doors at the moment, which means Doors covers about a third of what it should and she has not had a Friday off since March. The section's whole editorial position is that somebody was in the room; one person cannot be in enough rooms.

What we are actually looking for is not clips. It is somebody who already goes to shows on weeknights and has opinions about support bands — because that is the job, and it cannot be learned in the six months it would take to find out you do not want it. If you have never been published and you were at Unit 9 on a Tuesday in June, you are closer to this than someone with a portfolio who was not.
Send a sample of six hundred words about a show you went to that nobody commissioned, plus two paragraphs about a room you like, to jobs@merchtable.example. We reply to everyone, including the people we are not going to hire, and we aim to do it inside three weeks.
